Why is safety at work a major issue?

In business and manufacturing, safety is a major concern for both managers, owners, and employees. In accordance to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standards, companies are required to take all necessary measures to ensure and protect the physical and mental health of its employees and contractors. Additionally, employers must implement all necessary solutions to prevent the risk of any occupational accidents. It’s not only a questions of risk reduction, but prevention of any incidents if possible. This created two advantages for companies: work accidents are expensive to maintain and can hinder production rates. Furthermore, if an operator maintained good health, he/she/they would be more productive and efficient throughout a shift.
Some companies have understood the issue of safety at work and are not content to apply it in the short term but also apply it in the long term. This is done through implementing measures ensuring sound ergonomics. These measures can be applied at the production level and a corporate level (in offices).

What is ISO 7010?

ISO 7010 standard was enforced on January 1st, 2014. It aims to standardize graphic safety symbols at an international level. Internationally, all manufacturers of safety signals must use the same graphics and models. This standard mainly covers safety signs intended for accident prevention and evacuation.
This global standardization allows for more consistency and universal recognition of signals by the public. This guarantees a rhetoric comprehendible to all, regardless of the language spoken.
Thanks to ISO 7010, all employees are given the same symbols and the same schemes with regard to fires, first aid, evacuation, and dangers.
