Ground marking is often seen in our daily lives. We see it everyday, it can be on the roads, parking lots, businesses or even factories. Ground markings is firstly a visual information which allow the organization and security of areas to better guide our movements and naturally controlling the flux of people and vehicles.

Why using ground markings ?

The SESA SYSTEMS ground marking line, security and signalization helps tag, organize and identify your site. Being able to identify the risks and the signalization allows to caution them. In fact, factories, ateliers de production, entrepôts et plateformes logistiques sont des environnements de travail à risque, où pedestrian, equipment and engines live together.  By using rigorously ground markings, you are ensuring a functional and secure environment and optimizing better working conditions for your colleague. Ground signalization  respond to a major concern which is security, but not only. Ground marking allows to anszer to LEAN Management requirements and allow a better control and productivity of your industrial site : for exemple, it allows to break down the different zone and areas in your warehouse , notably to not overcrowd them.
We offer different types of marking such as marking tape, shapes and pictograms. This range also allows you to indicate safety instructions and prohibitions to improve the safety and working conditions of operators and to apply the 5S method within your organization.

Which areas of your logistics platform should be delimited?

Many people and vehicles circulate in a warehouse and you are not immune to a forklift accident or a collision between two handling machines. In order to strengthen the security of your organization, you will need to implement a clear, consistent and intuitive floor marking for warehouses.

  • Pedestrian paths: delineate them correctly so that your employees walk in the areas dedicated to this purpose.
  • Traffic routes for handling equipment: these must be marked with visible continuous strips. For this, adhesive floor marking tapes are very interesting.
  • Risk areas such as those reserved for the storage of hazardous materials: they can be indicated by yellow or red floor marking strips placed on the ground to limit access to operators.

How to choose your industrial floor marking?

At SESA SYSTEMS, we recommend the use of adhesive floor markings at the expense of floor marking paint for the interior cladding of your production sites. This has several advantages: the markup is fast and unlike painting, the installation of industrial adhesive tapes does not require drying time. Also, in case of redevelopment of your work environment, it is easier to remove and modify your floor markings. Adhesive tapes on the ground are therefore a good alternative and have an interesting value for money, for effective signage! The lifespan of these products depends on the type of soil you want to identify and how often operators and machines pass through the floor markings. Different qualities of adhesives make it possible to meet the requirements of your workshops to guarantee the best possible resistance of your markings:

  • Standard: for smooth floor or new floor with little passage on the marking.
  • Medium: for smooth floor, new or renovated floor, with light passage to moderate trolleys and pedestrians.
  • Reinforced: for smooth floor, new, renovated or old floor, dirty floor, moderate to intensive passage, good resistance to wear.
  • Extra: ideal quality for porous, irregular, old, oily soils, intensive passage, very good wear resistance.

To ensure optimal floor marking within your site, our range also contains some adhesive tapes and pictograms specially dedicated to outdoor floor marking.

What colors should you use for your warehouse floor marking?

In order to comply with the regulations imposed by our sector of activity, know that you will have to use our reference tool: the RAL color chart. The colors mentioned below are those that we are used to find to mark our industrial floors, and are therefore indicated here as an indication; Note that you will have to take into account the color of your flooring to make your choice:

  • Red (3020): danger or prohibition.
  • Orange (2004): chemical storage.
  • Yellow (1018): warning or danger.
  • Green (6024): information, direction or evacuation.
  • Blue (5017): obligation or protection.
  • White (9016): traffic lanes and storage areas.
  • Black (9017): erasure of the lines present on the bitumen.

A complete range of floor markings to adapt perfectly to your environment

  • Floor marking tapes: Industrial marking adhesive tapes allow the layout of workshops and warehouses. The aim is to give the ground a location for each moving element and to preserve enough space for operators and vehicles to circulate safely. To delimit these spaces, we offer different types of adhesive tapes, with different resistances and available in several colors.
  • Floor marking with adhesive shapes : To define a precise location, adhesive pellets or adhesive corners can also be used. Each of these shapes makes it possible to adapt as best as possible to the different furniture, tools and objects found in the industrial environment. As resistant and effective as adhesive rollers, these adhesive shapes make it possible to organize the workspace more concretely. For example, using 4 adhesive tees, create a pallet slot.
  • Identification of floor marking with adhesive storage pictograms: Yellow storage adhesive pictograms make it possible  to quickly and visually identify locations and different storage areas in workshops and warehouses. The use of images makes it possible to indicate and assign an area in a concrete way. This makes it possible to respect the rules of the 5S and to maintain an orderly workspace, at low cost. They are complementary to other marking solutions.
  • Clear identification of traffic areas : For vehicles such as trolleys and for pedestrian movement areas, we offer different pictograms adapted to guarantee the cohabitation and safety of everyone within the factory such as adhesive footprints, arrows or pedestrian crossing strips. This range is used to inform and guide users to avoid collisions and incidents.
  • Marking on the ground with adhesive pictograms obligations, prohibitions and attention : To improve and secure an industrial environment, signage pictograms have specific colors such as blue, red or yellow, allowing to organize industrial safety.

Our recommendations for the implementation of effective floor marking

  • Define intuitive, consistent, and non-redundant marking
  • Separating pedestrian and trolley flows
  • Define traffic directions
  • Securing crossings
  • Report hazards
  • Promote compliance with non-storage zones (RIA and emergency exits)

How to put your adhesive on the floor for an immediate result?

It is very simple to install our adhesive floor markings. However, we recommend that you follow some instructions and proceed in stages for a better result and a better resistance of the adhesive in the long term.

Step 1: Prepare the surface.

To begin with, clean the surface of any dust, grease, oil and solvent: The floor must be bare and clean. Be careful, cleaning products based on Chlorine and lemon are to be avoided. To do this, we can advise you the degreasing cleaning product from our range. Before moving on to the next step, the soil should be well dry. It is recommended to let the surface dry completely (about 30 min) before applying the adhesives to the floor. The ideal installation temperature is between 18°C and 25°C to benefit from an optimal application of your industrial marking on the ground.

2nd step: laying the adhesive on the floor.

For the application of your marking rollers, remove a few centimeters from the protective strip on one of the ends: using a cutter, draw a light line on the protective film and then slightly fold the adhesive to easily remove the film. Then place the adhesive strip or pictogram on the desired location before applying firmly. Continue the installation by applying the rest of the adhesive to the floor as you go: by applying pressure with one hand, continue to remove the protective strip with the other hand. In order to eliminate possible air bubbles under the adhesive, we advise to roll something heavy on your track, such as a forklift, for a perfect adhesion to the ground.

Some warnings:

Be careful not to superimpose several markings, otherwise, the adhesion to the ground will not be effective and the adhesive will not hold in time. In the presence of cracks or holes in the floor, air can enter under the adhesive which can reduce the effectiveness and service life of the product. In the presence of an intense back and forth of forklifts, pallets or any other blunt object that can be pulled or pushed on the floors, we recommend preferably using SESA SYSTEMS adhesive pellets, corners, tees or edges.
